So as many of you know that follow me on social media (if you don’t follow your girl @danieminor13!), this past weekend I went to Her Conference!
Traveling is one of my favorite hobbies; going to events is another favorite of mine. This past weekend, I took an Amtrak Train to NYC where the conference was being held. Amtrak allowed me to combine my two favorite things!
Her Conference is a conference put together by the staff at Her Campus. Her Campus is an online magazine for “collegiette” women! Along with being an online magazine, they also have a blogger network, which I’m apart of.
So, when they announced the dates for the conference, which is held in NYC, I immediately purchased a two-day ticket. At the time it didn’t matter to me how I got to NYC, where I was staying or if anyone I knew was also going to the conference that I knew;I knew I was going!
A month before the conference I had the place to stay, but still hadn’t locked down how I was getting to NYC… then Amtrak popped into the equation!
I’ve always heard great things, and I have taken trains in Europe, so I thought why not give it a go? I had my ticket to leave D.C. at 3 p.m. and I would be in NYC Penn Station by 6:30!
The day of my trip, I packed my bags and made my way to Union Station, found my gate and I got on the train with other young women who were going to the conference!
The train was spacious, comfortable and smooth sailing (unlike a few buses I’ve taken up to the city in the past). Of course I forgot to bring snacks and coffee, so a friend and I moseyed on down to the café cart. I love that Amtrak had this! We both got snacks and even on our ride home we were able to get dinner (We were rushing from the last day of the conference back to the train station!)
Amtrak was pleasant and the staff who worked on the train were also so friendly! I will definitely be looking the train as a future form of transportation. Also from their website, I found out that they have more than 500 destinations, in 46 states and Canada. They are truly connecting all North America! They also have a student discount! Which everyone knows I LOVE!
Have you ever taken an Amtrak train? I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences! Make sure to check back to Defining Danie in a few days to read my recap of the whole conference!

I love Amtrak, & when I lived in D.C., New Jersey, & New Hampshire, I used it all the time. I really wish they had better connections in the Midwest because it would be SO great to be able to travel that way out here. Glad your first Amtrak experience was a positive one!
