Hair hacks to keep your hair beautiful year-round!

Hi! I hope everyone is having a great start to their new year so far. I really feel like 2018 is going to be a great year for all of us, I can just feel it!

For it to be a great year, it has to include having great hair. So, today, I am going to share some advice with you on how to have great hair, even during these dry winter months!

My hair is really one of those things that I obsess over- the color, the cut, the texture! I don’t know why, but it’s something of mine that I just love (even though sometimes it can be a frizzy mess)! I naturally very wavy hair, but I wear it straight.

Tip #1)  Minimize use of heat

Heat can be pretty brutal for your hair if you are using it too often. We all know this, but I think we choose to not listen/care. I try to only use heat on my hair 3 times per week, at max. I also do not blow-dry my hair. I’ll let it air-dry if I have time!

Tip #2) Use a heat protectant, if you do use heat!

When I do choose to use heat, I always make sure I use a heat protectant so I don’t ruin my hair. By using heat protectant, you can help preserve the health of your hair. My favorite one is the Hot Toddy by Dry Bar. Some products feel like they weigh my hair down, but this one leaves my hair feeling normal!

Tip #3) Do not over wash your hair

I am not sure who ever thought it would be a good idea to tell us that we need to wash our hair every day, but they were wrong! It does not matter how thin your hair is, you do not need to wash it every day unless you were working out or swimming, etc. Our hair produces natural oils that are actually good for our hair, and every time you wash your hair you are stripping your natural nourishment for your hair!

A few years ago, I “trained” my hair to not need to be washed as often. In this blog post, you can read how I did that!

Tip #4) After using heat, find an oil that you love and apply it to the ends of your hair

After applying any type of heat, I make sure to add an oil to the ends to put back that moisture that they crave! This one by R+Co. is my favorite! My hairstylist used this on me when I used to go for my weekly blowouts, and I couldn’t get enough, so I bought some for home! In addition to helping keep my ends beautiful, it also helps any frizziness I may have.

My favorite hair hack that I want to try from eSalon’s tips is the “Kitchen’s Key” hair mask on card one! A warm coconut oil hair mask? Yes, please!!
