How to Throw The Perfect Bachelor Watch Party with your Gals!

My friends and I are taking this season of The Bachelor really seriously! We even have a bracket – where the winner gets a prize. We get together almost every week and watch (gawk) at the screen over which woman we think Colton is going to pick. (I think he is going to pick Cassie… who do you think he’s going to pick?)

I threw my friends the ultimate “Bachelor Watch Party” and I want to share it with you, so you can also throw the perfect evening with your gal pals! This party would be perfect for the Final Rose ceremony in April!

Grab your roses and your rosé and let’s have a Bachelor Watch Party!

I gave all of my friends a yellow rose because it represents the color of friendship!

Our Shirts!

I hopped right onto Etsy and found this amazing shop called Simply Sage Market. The shop owner is so creative and was so thoughtful and gifted us a few of shirts! I love that we all got different colors!

Colors from left to right: Olive, Red, Seafoam and Blush. Not pictured: We also ordered one in Mauve, but my friend couldn’t make it to my party anymore!

I love that I purchased the red because it’s the classic rose color!

The Decor

I wanted to include the classic “rose” in my theme for the evening, but also wanted to spice it up so it wasn’t just the red roses!

Every event in my opinion needs that ‘Gram moment, so I picked up a piece of garland at Michael’s Craft store that already had pink and white flowers scattered through it, and I just added fake red stem roses through it! I taped the roses so they wouldn’t fall through.

I personally really liked that the stems were sticking though, but if you don’t love that look, you can pull the roses off of the top and hot glue them to your garland!

Similar Garland

I dressed up my bar cart with a “Will you accept this rosé?” sign and a few bottles of rosé.

I took two frames and printed two signs – the one for the bar cart and one for the dessert section of my table! I also grabbed these white candles, because it wouldn’t be the fantasy “sweets” without candles!!

We then sprinkled red rose petals across the food table for some extra-ness. To spruce up the vase with the forks and straws, I threw in some fake red and pink roses!

Food

Fun fact: Did you know that the Bachelor/Bachelorettes and their dates can’t eat the food while on camera on their dates?! It always looks so good! I don’t know how they have that good of self control.

We set up a taco station and mini desserts area!

We included it all: meat for the tacos, hard + soft taco shells, diced onion and tomato, shredded lettuce, cheese, sour cream, guacamole and salsa! But for your taco bar, make sure to choose your favorites!

For desserts, we had mini french macarons, mini cheesecakes with raspberries, and mini chocolate doughnuts! I picked up all of these mini desserts from Wegmans, and they were addictive!

On the table, I made sure to include red and yellow roses. Red because they are the classic Bachelor rose color and yellow because they represent friendship!

Pro tip: pick up your flowers at Trader Joe’s if you have one in your area! Their flowers are such a great price.

Games

I know games are the last thing we want to play when it comes to relationships…but if you want to include a fun game, I suggest this Bachelor Bingo from Etsy! It was actually a lot harder than we thought it would be– but it kept us really in-tune with the show!

Paper Source’s Galentine’s Day Mixer + Why Creativity Helps your Mental Health

If you follow me on Instagram (@Danieminor13 ;)), you saw that I spent my Valentine’s Day at Paper Source in Annapolis. They hosted a Galentine’s Day Mixer, which was a blast! I learned a few new crafting tricks- hello heat embossing?! How have I never learned about you before?

While I had a blast last night, I learned something more than that. If you’ve followed Defining Danie for a while, you may know that I struggle with anxiety. But, something you may not know, because I haven’t talked about it is that I have been struggling with the job hunt. Recently, because of the job search, I have felt extremely anxious and have had a few panic attacks because of it. Continue reading

How I re-created my room to be my favorite space in the house!

When I moved home in May, I felt like my room was not actually “my room.” When I originally went to college, my mom got rid of my furniture because it was so old, and honestly, it needed to go. When I would come home from breaks from college, I would stay in our guest room or our extremely comfy couch in the living room.

I felt out of place and really wanted a place of my own because I knew I would be at home for at least another year.

I didn’t know what I wanted to do with the guest room, but I knew to keep costs down, I would have to keep the bedroom furniture, but could add fun pieces to make it feel like my own space!

After looking at various Instagram pages, talking with my best friend Erin (a TON) about styles we liked and seeing one of my favorite YouTuber, Sarah Belle’s new room…I decided the Boho Chic style was the way I wanted to go!

Similarly to Sarah, I LOVE color and texture! I knew I wanted to do warmer tones, such as, corals, yellows and pinks (which are also my favorite colors). I LOVE pillows, and am not lying when I tell you I bought 20 pillows before finding the five I wanted to keep!

The decoration of my room didn’t happen over one night- it’s been four months of finding various pieces that I just wanted needed for my room! During the beginning when I was figuring out what Boho Chic meant for me, and I knew it had to include a macrame wall hanging, so that’s where I began! My friend Erin happened to be designing her room at her new townhouse, and was in HomeGoods one day and saw the most magical one for me!

Literally knew I had to have this! Especially because it was only $24! It’s from HomeGoods, so I wasn’t able to find the exact one, but I found ones with similar colors that you might like: here, here, here and  here. Continue reading

An Easy 4 Step DIY For Your Dorm

I live in an apartment-style dorm.  I decorated a little in the beginning of the school year, but last night (at 2 a.m. of course) I realized I had a lot of things with my monogram on it, but, nothing with any sayings on it! I came across a quote on Twitter that I absolutely fell in love with- so it had to be painted and put on my walls! 🙂

First Step:
I used this owl-shaped piece of wood that I bought at Michael’s craft store over the summer that I hadn’t done anything with. Then, I painted it with two coats of white paint.

Second Step:
I decided to use the quote: “She needed a hero so that’s what she became” because a little girl power is ALWAYS needed!  I used my favorite gold paint that I also bought at Michaels’s craft store. Make sure that when you’re using a gold paint, to buy the metallic gold paint! It will shimmer, and look GORG (just like all of you!).
DSCF6663

Make sure to go over the words at least twice, so the paint isn’t transparent!

Third Step:
At first, I was thinking I liked the board with just the words, and no bedazzles, but I wouldn’t be Danie without any extras on my crafts! So, I decided to look in my crafting bin for something cute I had to put on it, and I found two pretty fake flowers!

DSCF6665
I just magically had two flowers left- so, it was meant to be for this craft! I just hot glued them on, and they stayed perfectly.

Fourth Step:
Now it’s time to hang up your masterpiece! I used a command hook and hung it up in my living room!

DSCF6682

I hung it up underneath of one of the many monograms that are in my apartment!

These small things make your dorm room have personality! I would love to see some of your DIYs that are in your dorms!
