Thrifty Thursday: Summer to Fall Bag!

So, Defining Danie reader’s, it’s been a while. I’ve missed you all! School has been more than hectic, which is why I haven’t blogged in what feels like a lifetime.

Look at this amazing purchase that I found. The bag was originally $45 and at Goodwill it was being sold for $17, and then I got the student discount and ended up getting the bag for $15!

This week’s Thrifty Thursday is based on a bag I found a few weeks ago that was originally from Target. Orange can go for either summer or fall, but adding this scarf definitely adds more a fall-feel. The bag was brand new and I bought it from Goodwill in Kent, Ohio. Goodwill and Target have a partnership where the Goodwill sells the clothing/accessories not sold during the time that they were being sold in Target so they have another chance to be sold again. The clothing/accessories are sold for a cheaper price than they would be sold in Target.

Although the oranges are not the same, the scarf and bag still complement one-another. The bag has more of a coral undertone and the scarf has a darker orange, magenta, yellow and various colors of taupe! I love the scarf, which I got for only $1.00!

Take a look inside this bag! It even has the perfect compartment for pencils and lipstick. 😉 And the polka dots are a lovely touch.

Incorporating thrifted items into your daily outfits is not hard at all! It was a coincidence that I was actually wearing was thrifted over the summer.

I hope everyone is having a lovely start to fall!

Traveling made easy to NYC!

So as many of you know that follow me on social media (if you don’t follow your girl @danieminor13!), this past weekend I went to Her Conference!

Traveling is one of my favorite hobbies; going to events is another favorite of mine. This past weekend, I took an Amtrak Train to NYC where the conference was being held. Amtrak allowed me to combine my two favorite things!

Her Conference is a conference put together by the staff at Her Campus. Her Campus is an online magazine for “collegiette” women! Along with being an online magazine, they also have a blogger network, which I’m apart of.

So, when they announced the dates for the conference, which is held in NYC, I immediately purchased a two-day ticket. At the time it didn’t matter to me how I got to NYC, where I was staying or if anyone I knew was also going to the conference that I knew;I knew I was going!

A month before the conference I had the place to stay, but still hadn’t locked down how I was getting to NYC… then Amtrak popped into the equation!  Continue reading

Thrifty Thursday… on a Sunday!

My Finds at the Goodwill in Akron, Ohio! This week I went to the Goodwill that is on Waterloo Rd!

Hello Everyone!

I am so sorry for posting my Thrifty Thursday so late! This weekend has been rough. But, have no fear, it is here now!

Let’s start off with the red vest with my monogram. If you read my post last week, you would see that the vest itself only cost me $4! Then, I took it to my favorite monogram shop The Dragonfly in downtown Kent, Oh. The gold thread I chose to get was absolutely perfect for this vest. It really completes it, and it was only $7. YAY! I have already worn this vest three times and it is only Sunday, haha!

Next, are the two button downs! One of my favorite fall looks this year is wearing a button down with a sweater over top with a statement necklace! It is a classic-look! Here’s what I mean, if you’re not sure what I mean:

I usually wear jeans or leggings and of course some cute boots!

During this trip, I also bought a really pretty frame. I needed one for my certificate I received a couple of weeks ago from my sorority, Chi Omega! The pretty frame was only $2. Frames can get pretty pricey and if you look in Goodwill you will definitely be able to find some awesome frames!

YES YOU DID JUST SEE A FOSSIL PURSE! Guess how much I bought that REAL Fossil purse! $3.40. It was originally marked to be sold for $15.00, but the sales clerk thought that was too expensive for me to pay, so I got a HUGE bargain on this bag! You can say that I am SUPER DOOPER EXCITED. 🙂

And finally, I found this really adorable teal blazer. For my sorority chapter meetings, we wear business casual each week, so, a blazer is a must.

This week, my total at Goodwill was $18.00!

Again, I am so sorry that this post took me forever to put up, I hope you enjoyed this week’s finds! Check out my post next week!

XOXO,

Danie

Thrifty Thursday is getting Fall-y!

As of yesterday it has become Fall at Kent State. Today the high was 64 degrees and it was raining *sigh*, summer has officially come to an end, so that means that my outfits have to change! My favorite thing in Fall is boots, sweaters and scarves! This week as you can see, Shawna came with me to thrift! We went to Value discount in Akron, Oh. Shawna and I both LOVE to shop so naturally we were thrifting for 2 and 1/2 hours! Haha!

My favorite purchase is the yellow linen jacket that you see in the first few pictures! It was $4 and is the most comfortable thing ever! It’s perfect jacket for fall because it is heavy enough for the cool mornings walking to class but also light enough that I’m not hot in the afternoons. The leggings are not from this round of thrifting, but they were thrifted! Then the shoes were from when I went to Moonlight Madness in August! I am SO excited to be able to wear them now that it won’t be too hot to wear them. Then the scarf is not thrifted either but it went so well with the outfit. Next outfit! I am in love with this shirt! It fits me perfectly and it would look really cute under a jean jacket or a sweater for those cold nights!

Next, I bought the sweater today! Shawna and I fought over this sweater for a good 30 minutes! Haha! If you are an avid reader of my blog you will remember that I was super excited about the shoes that I’m wearing with this outfit! I bought them probably about a month ago for only $5! I wish I could say that this scarf was also thrifted but it is not… I bought this scarf from Zara about two years ago and it is my FAVORITE scarf. The colors just went really well with the whole outfit. Finally, this yellow sweatshirt… I do not know why I love it so much! But, what I do know is that it is perfect for fall (what sweatshirt isn’t?) and it has parrots on it! Why wouldn’t I love it?

So, you’re asking how much money I spent total for these outfits today, probably $9?!

Shawna’s turn! Shawna LOVES the comfy yet cute look! She rocks the different fleece quarter zips! I am also in LOVE with her boots! She reminds me of a Native-American in them! 🙂 The scarf that she is wearing the last picture is Lilly Pulitzer and has the most adorable elephants on them!

Shawna spent a total of $13 for the 3 fleece pullovers! I’m so proud of her :’)!

I hope you enjoyed this week’s Thrifty Thursday!

XOXO,

Danie

This Week’s Spectacular Thrifty Thursday!

DSCF6378 DSCF6371 DSCF6379 DSCF6381 DSCF6384 DSCF6388 DSCF6389

Yes, I did call it SPECTACULAR. Why, you ask? This is because today I had the chance of finding 2 of the most amazing thrifting hot spots! And, they are only 10 minutes from me in Kent, Oh! The first one I went to was Einsteins Attic and the second one is Overstock Oasis! Let me just tell all of you wonderful people… these two places were LIFE CHANGING for so many reasons. They were basically paradise for any Thrifter. Oo also, my mommy is here this weekend so she had the chance to come thrifting with me. We had a blast.

I will start with the ring that is pictured. It was $4! I love the stones on it and it fits perfectly! My mom actually found it in the store for me! I can see this ring becoming a staple that I’ll always wear. I usually only wear gold rings, but I don’t mind that this one is silver. Also, I bought the cute owl that that you see. It is made with all sea shells (besides the eyes! lol). For those of you who don’t know this… my sorority’s symbol is an owl, so whenever I see cute owl items, it is a MUST that I purchase it! Plus, it looks adorable in my apartment! I also bought the cutest retro red glasses! I am so sad because I forgot to take a picture in them… but, I will post one tomorrow! I am in love with them! I do not even wear glasses, HAHA. They do not have any prescription in them, so I bought them as an accessory. My mom said they make me look 45 years old, but that is TOTALLY fine with me, haha. I will be rockin’ those as often as I can.

After Einsteins Attic, we went to Overstock Oasis, which is conveniently across the street! I was not sure what to expect walking in to this store but let me just tell you, it was like walking into HEAVEN. They had anything a person could wish to buy. Unlike most thrift stores, Overstock Oasis is all brand-new items. Just like the name, all of the products are items that the companies who are sold in the store had extras of. A lot of the the products that they sold there were from Kohl’s, Macy’s, and funny enough, CVS Pharmacy. There I purchased all of the makeup items and the adorable yellow sweater! I believe I spent around $15 dollars in there. If it is hard to tell, the mascara is Rimmel London’s Lash Accelerator, AKA one of my favorite mascaras! That mascara usually runs around $8.00 and I bought it for $3! Then, there is the Maybelline eyeshadow palette! The palette’s name is “Green Garden”. I know this picture is not the best, but the three colors that are in it are an emerald green, a light green and a coral-y pink. I know green does not sound the most appealing, but I promise if green is done right it looks awesome on almost all different eye colors! Would you all like a Tutorial? I can totally post one this week! YAY! That is happening 🙂 Then, the purple eyeliner! This was also only $3! It is such a pretty purple and I cannot wait to rock it on my green eyes!

I cannot wait to show you all the tutorial! Tomorrow, my mom and I are off on another Thrifting trip! We are headed to a cool Thrift store in Toledo, Oh! It is called Thrifty Trendz, have any of you been there? I cannot wait to share what I buy there with you all!

XO,

DanieÂ
