Thrifty Thursday is getting Wintery!

This week, I went thrifting with my friend Marie. Her and I both scored some GREAT things!

I was on a mission this week to find a cute winter coat, that wasn’t black and a poncho/ruana. I went to Village Discount Outlet in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and I wasn’t leaving there until I found what I was looking for!

Hello Everyone!

I am so sorry for posting my Thrifty Thursday so late! This weekend has been rough. But, have no fear, it is here now!

Let’s start off with the red vest with my monogram. If you read my post last week, you would see that the vest itself only cost me $4! Then, I took it to my favorite monogram shop The Dragonfly in downtown Kent, Oh. The gold thread I chose to get was absolutely perfect for this vest. It really completes it, and it was only $7. YAY! I have already worn this vest three times and it is only Sunday, haha!

Next, are the two button downs! One of my favorite fall looks this year is wearing a button down with a sweater over top with a statement necklace! It is a classic-look! Here’s what I mean, if you’re not sure what I mean:

IMG_3119

I usually wear jeans or leggings and of course some cute boots!

During this trip, I also bought a really pretty frame. I needed one for my certificate I received a couple of weeks ago from my sorority, Chi Omega! The pretty frame was only $2. Frames can get pretty pricey and if you look in Goodwill you will definitely be able to find some awesome frames!

YES YOU DID JUST SEE A FOSSIL PURSE! Guess how much I bought that REAL Fossil purse! $3.40. It was originally marked to be sold for $15.00, but the sales clerk thought that was too expensive for me to pay, so I got a HUGE bargain on this bag! You can say that I am SUPER DOOPER EXCITED. 🙂

And finally, I found this really adorable teal blazer. For my sorority chapter meetings, we wear business casual each week, so, a blazer is a must.

This week, my total at Goodwill was $18.00!

Again, I am so sorry that this post took me forever to put up, I hope you enjoyed this week’s finds! Check out my post next week!

XOXO,

Danie

Thrifty Thursday featuring my first GIVEAWAY!

This week I decided I would check out the Goodwill in Kent, Ohio! I brought along my friend Marie. We had a ton of fun looking though all of the clothes! You can even see Marie found a cute new necklace (haha, she didn’t actually buy the Burger King necklace).

photo-5

I was on a hunt for cute cardigans and pullovers! The leaves have changed in Kent, Ohio and in the matter of only 3 weeks, I guarantee you it will feel like winter here (yes I have cried about this 🙁 )! I also wanted to find more things to monogram and I convinced Marie that she needed to buy something to get monogrammed with me!

image-33image-29photo-4image-30image-31

We were searching for about 20 minutes before I found anything. This Goodwill is not the biggest, but, I always say if you search, you will find something! And, I succeeded! YAY! First thing I found was the animal print cardigan. I am super excited about this cardigan! it fit me so well and it was the most comfortable thing ever…and it is adorable! It looks better on then it does on a hanger!

Then while searching again I found this adorable black and white cardigan. In this picture it kind of looks like a bathrobe, but I promise it doesn’t in person! In person it makes me look so little! it is synched at the waist and the material is so soft. It is going to be so warm for these cold days we are having.

Then, Marie found this purple pullover for me! I love it! I want to monogram this, but I’m not sure what color to monogram it with? What color do you all think? HELP ME! (I am kind of thinking white?) And finally, this zip-up gray sweater! I do not ever want to take this gray sweater off. Honestly, it is the most comfortable sweater I have ever owned. In the picture it was hard to see the detail on it! I honestly do not even know if I want to monogram this just because it looks like a nicer sweater.

I am dropping off the sweaters tomorrow so, let me know!

Now, it is the GIVEAWAY part! I decided to do the Giveaway now because it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I wanted to include the amazing book, “Make Mine a Double, a Mastectomy that is” by Beth Kaufman!  photo-3

Thrifty Thursday Halloween Style!

DSCF6490DSCF6491DSCF6495DSCF6496DSCF6499DSCF6501DSCF6507DSCF6503

This past week I asked to be challenged to go out to find certain things while thrifting! One of the challenges was to go out and find a Halloween costume! So, I decided to go out and find a “Home-made” costume and one that was store-made. The items that I bought were only $14. If you were to go out and buy either of these costumes at a Halloween store I promise you will spend over $30. I personally think “Home-made” costumes are always so much cuter and original!

My “Home-made” costume if you couldn’t tell was inspired by Rosie the Riveter! I love her! Plus, her look is simple, and everyone will be able to tell what you are. I did add some of my own clothing in this. But, I bought the things that you also may have to go out to purchase! I bought the jean shirt and the “headband” for my first look! I looked all around Goodwill to see if they had Rosie’s signature red and white polka dotted headband but… I didn’t have any luck. So, I thought outside of the box and went to look in the men’s tie area and bought one that was super close to Rosie’s! Underneath of the jean shirt I just wore a basic V-neck and Jeans with combat boots! I feel like Rosie would wear these two things, especially because they were not the “norm” for women of her time.

Next, for my store bought costume I found this adorable lady bug costume! Please guess how much it was… If you guess $10, then you were correct. I was bummed that Goodwill did not have any antennas. 🙁  But I left the cute red headband on. But, if I were to wear this on Halloween I would go out and buy antennas to complete my look. On the back of the costume there are cute little wings!

I love both of these costumes but, I have to say that I love my Rosie the Riveter one a little bit more! 🙂

I hope you all will think about Thrifting your Halloween costumes this year, I promise it will save you an arm and a leg! I would love to see the costumes that you all find! Please share the pictures with me on Facebook on my page Defining Danie or on Twitter/Instagram @Danieminor13!

Hope you all enjoyed this weeks themed Thrifty Thursday!

Danie

Thrifty Thursday Is Getting Personal!

DSCF6412 DSCF6414 DSCF6417 DSCF6418 DSCF6420 DSCF6421 DSCF6422

This week while I was thrifting I found these two awesome quarter-zip sweaters! Like I said in my last post, it is already sweater-weather here in Kent, Ohio, so I need as many cute sweaters as possible! I don’t know about all of you but I am a HUGE fan of monograms! I think they are just so cute. Buying monogrammed items on websites such as Marleylilly.com and Etsy.com get really expensive but, if you can thrift the things you want monogrammed it will save you a ton of money!

In Kent, Ohio we have the cutest store downtown called The Dragonfly! They monogram ANYTHING for $5. Yep, you read that correctly, $5!!!! So, I brought my two sweaters to them and picked out my colors for the monograms! I cannot wait to show you all the finished products once I have them. They are going to take a little under a week to be finished, which if you ordered something like this online it could take up to a month to get to you.

My monogram is DMR (My full name is Danie Rylee Minor), and I know a lot of people ask me why the M is in the middle. For a women’s monogram the first initial of your last name is always bigger and set in the middle because it is thought of as the most important name because it is your family name! For the grey sweater I decided to go with a vibrant pink monogram and for the pink sweater I decided to get a gold one that says ΧΩ and underneath of it in white it says Lambda Delta because that is my chapter’s name! I am thrilled about my two sweaters and if you live near Kent, Ohio and are looking for a cute gift for someone, or something cute for yourself you should definitely visit The Dragonfly!

The cost of both of my items including the monogram is $18! For most places online you cannot get anything monogrammed for under $30. So, remember to THRIFT THRIFT THRIFT!

Thrifty Thursday is getting Fall-y!

As of yesterday it has become Fall at Kent State. Today the high was 64 degrees and it was raining *sigh*, summer has officially come to an end, so that means that my outfits have to change! My favorite thing in Fall is boots, sweaters and scarves! This week as you can see, Shawna came with me to thrift! We went to Value discount in Akron, Oh. Shawna and I both LOVE to shop so naturally we were thrifting for 2 and 1/2 hours! Haha!

My favorite purchase is the yellow linen jacket that you see in the first few pictures! It was $4 and is the most comfortable thing ever! It’s perfect jacket for fall because it is heavy enough for the cool mornings walking to class but also light enough that I’m not hot in the afternoons. The leggings are not from this round of thrifting, but they were thrifted! Then the shoes were from when I went to Moonlight Madness in August! I am SO excited to be able to wear them now that it won’t be too hot to wear them. Then the scarf is not thrifted either but it went so well with the outfit. Next outfit! I am in love with this shirt! It fits me perfectly and it would look really cute under a jean jacket or a sweater for those cold nights!

Next, I bought the sweater today! Shawna and I fought over this sweater for a good 30 minutes! Haha! If you are an avid reader of my blog you will remember that I was super excited about the shoes that I’m wearing with this outfit! I bought them probably about a month ago for only $5! I wish I could say that this scarf was also thrifted but it is not… I bought this scarf from Zara about two years ago and it is my FAVORITE scarf. The colors just went really well with the whole outfit. Finally, this yellow sweatshirt… I do not know why I love it so much! But, what I do know is that it is perfect for fall (what sweatshirt isn’t?) and it has parrots on it! Why wouldn’t I love it?

So, you’re asking how much money I spent total for these outfits today, probably $9?!

Shawna’s turn! Shawna LOVES the comfy yet cute look! She rocks the different fleece quarter zips! I am also in LOVE with her boots! She reminds me of a Native-American in them! 🙂 The scarf that she is wearing the last picture is Lilly Pulitzer and has the most adorable elephants on them!

Shawna spent a total of $13 for the 3 fleece pullovers! I’m so proud of her :’)!

I hope you enjoyed this week’s Thrifty Thursday!

XOXO,

Danie

This Week’s Spectacular Thrifty Thursday!

DSCF6378 DSCF6371 DSCF6379 DSCF6381 DSCF6384 DSCF6388 DSCF6389

Yes, I did call it SPECTACULAR. Why, you ask? This is because today I had the chance of finding 2 of the most amazing thrifting hot spots! And, they are only 10 minutes from me in Kent, Oh! The first one I went to was Einsteins Attic and the second one is Overstock Oasis! Let me just tell all of you wonderful people… these two places were LIFE CHANGING for so many reasons. They were basically paradise for any Thrifter. Oo also, my mommy is here this weekend so she had the chance to come thrifting with me. We had a blast.

I will start with the ring that is pictured. It was $4! I love the stones on it and it fits perfectly! My mom actually found it in the store for me! I can see this ring becoming a staple that I’ll always wear. I usually only wear gold rings, but I don’t mind that this one is silver. Also, I bought the cute owl that that you see. It is made with all sea shells (besides the eyes! lol). For those of you who don’t know this… my sorority’s symbol is an owl, so whenever I see cute owl items, it is a MUST that I purchase it! Plus, it looks adorable in my apartment! I also bought the cutest retro red glasses! I am so sad because I forgot to take a picture in them… but, I will post one tomorrow! I am in love with them! I do not even wear glasses, HAHA. They do not have any prescription in them, so I bought them as an accessory. My mom said they make me look 45 years old, but that is TOTALLY fine with me, haha. I will be rockin’ those as often as I can.

After Einsteins Attic, we went to Overstock Oasis, which is conveniently across the street! I was not sure what to expect walking in to this store but let me just tell you, it was like walking into HEAVEN. They had anything a person could wish to buy. Unlike most thrift stores, Overstock Oasis is all brand-new items. Just like the name, all of the products are items that the companies who are sold in the store had extras of. A lot of the the products that they sold there were from Kohl’s, Macy’s, and funny enough, CVS Pharmacy. There I purchased all of the makeup items and the adorable yellow sweater! I believe I spent around $15 dollars in there. If it is hard to tell, the mascara is Rimmel London’s Lash Accelerator, AKA one of my favorite mascaras! That mascara usually runs around $8.00 and I bought it for $3! Then, there is the Maybelline eyeshadow palette! The palette’s name is “Green Garden”. I know this picture is not the best, but the three colors that are in it are an emerald green, a light green and a coral-y pink. I know green does not sound the most appealing, but I promise if green is done right it looks awesome on almost all different eye colors! Would you all like a Tutorial? I can totally post one this week! YAY! That is happening 🙂 Then, the purple eyeliner! This was also only $3! It is such a pretty purple and I cannot wait to rock it on my green eyes!

I cannot wait to show you all the tutorial! Tomorrow, my mom and I are off on another Thrifting trip! We are headed to a cool Thrift store in Toledo, Oh! It is called Thrifty Trendz, have any of you been there? I cannot wait to share what I buy there with you all!

Thrifty Thursday Time!

DSCF6348  DSCF6349 DSCF6350 DSCF6353 DSCF6356DSCF6345

It is that time of the week again! I just got home from an amazing thrifting trip that I took with one of my best friends, Shawna! I bought seven items for $20! I am so proud of myself! I am still getting everything situated in my apartment and I needed a few more things so I decided that I would wait until today so I could thrift those items!

I finally have a kitchen, and I am so happy about that because I do love to cook. But, how was I supposed to cook without any pots or pans? So, today I went to Goodwill and they had a few pots and pans but I found the two in the picture above for $6! At full price at even Target or Walmart, I would at least have to spend around $20 for the two of them. I am excited about the steal that I got! Next is the adorable Bohemian-esc purse. I love this bag! it was funny I was already in the process of purchasing everything and the Goodwill that I went to today had their purse section next to check out, so of course I had to browse while the cashier was waiting for me to pay! Haha!

I am from Maryland for those of my readers who do not know and I was going through the T-shirt section and LOOK WHAT I FOUND… a University of Maryland Terrapins Tee! Guess how much it cost me! $1! YUP. At Goodwill they have certain days that are marked certain colors tags and you will get a certain percentage off of that colored tag! Today it happened to be a blue tag day, making my T-shirt 50% off! The next picture is this adorable polka-dotted shirt! I know the print of the shirt is hard to see, I’m sorry :(. But, the shirt is black with beige polka-dots, and it is SO comfortable!

My apartment (which is actually an apartment style dorm room) came fully furnished, which is AMAZING, but the furniture is not favorite. So, I decided that I am going to put a cute table cloth on my table where I eat. As I was browsing I found this section of fabric and table cloths! I actually did not know that Goodwill sold that! The table cloth that I bought for also only $1 is actually just a large piece of fabric that I am sure someone had laying around their house, but it doesn’t matter to me, it matches and I love that it is patterned!

Finally, I know you are asking me in your head, Danie, why did you buy a bag of pom-poms? I can explain that to you! This weekend I am making DIY coasters! They are going to be adorable and I will share them all with you!

I am so sorry I have not posted in a week, this week I started my classes (17 credits worth) and have been so busy! BUT, I know this is no excuse so this week I PINKY PROMISE that I am going to be putting up my apartment tour and my DIY coasters up!

Thank you all for reading this weeks’ Thrifty Thursday 🙂

XO,

Danie

PS: Here is Shawna and I thrifting our little hearts away!

Thrifty Thursday: My Apartment!

DSCF6334 DSCF6335 DSCF6338 DSCF6341

After countless hours of moving in these past two days… I am DONE moving in! Now, its time for the DECORATING! I cannot wait for the next couple weeks to thrift all of my decorations. So, let’s start this! I found these awesome plates! They remind me of a Mexican Fiesta! Ha! The colors are just so bright and fun. I bought SO many of them. The picture of the pink, yellow and blue plates are smaller ones that could be used for salad! I bought 6 of the small ones. The picture of the pink and blue ones are dinner plates. I am so sad that they did not have any of the yellow ones in the bigger plates but, I’m so happy that they did have the pink and blue! I bought 7 of them. Guess how much I bought 13 plates for? Also, they are glass! They are not plastic, I know they kind of look plastic-y in my pictures. I bought them for $8.76 cents! Also, because I am a student, I got 10% off at my Goodwill near school! I asked the Goodwill about their different sales that they have and everyday I go there, I can get the 10% off discount. I am thrilled!

Next, the purple toaster! I have to admit that I did not buy this in a thrift store… I bought it at Walmart. (Close enough, right? haha) But, I bought it at such a good price! I bought this toaster which is originally around $25 for $11! I think the purple is going to look so pretty with all of the decorations that I am putting up! P.S. keep your eyes on the lookout for my post about my decorations that I am putting up within these next few days. I am so excited! The other thing that I wanted to share with you guys is how I am actually using some of my past Thrifty Thursday products that I bought! You can see my famous yellow-green glass container! I bought these about a month ago, especially for my apartment. For a few of the containers, my dad actually came up with the idea of storing my K-Cups in them for my Keurig! Which of course I thought was ADORABLE. I am also using 2 of them for my makeup brushes!

Before I end my post, I just wanted to thank everyone with the support that I am receiving from all of you! Thank you to everyone who has told me they are avid readers and to everyone who has given my amazing compliments about my posts! I am so happy to hear that you are loving my posts, just as much as I LOVE posting them!

XO,

Danie 🙂
